NO.
Hamsters are solitary species. Things that could happen if hamsters are housed together:
- Fighting
- Stress
- Resource guarding
- Sleep disruption
- Sudden aggression
- Bullying
- Injuries
- Weight loss
- Injuries
- Death
“But the pet store said they were a “bonded pair”
-Bonded pairs do not exist. Many pet stores will say this to try and make two sales, but all of the previous risks are real no matter how they were previously housed.
“Aren’t they social in the wild?”
-Most wild hamsters live alone and keep their own burrow territory. They usually come together only briefly for mating and then go back to living separately.
“They’ve been fine so far...”
-And things could change in a moment. It only takes one moment for one hamster to kill another.
Each hamster
Needs their own space.
Needs their own enclosure.
No exceptions.
