HOW IS IT SAFE?
While there are printing processes that are unsafe, our Direct-to-Wood UV-Curing Process is 100% safe!
PET-SAFE INK:
We use specialized, non-toxic inks that bond safely with the wood (via UV-Curing process).
If your small pet decides to nibble on their hide, it is completely harmless!
ZERO STICKERS
We never use stickers, vinyl decals, or laminates to attach the design to the hide.
Peeling stickers pose a severe danger of choking or blockages, and contain unsafe materials.
BREATHABLE:
Because we do not wrap the wood in plastic or vinyl coatings, the hide remains completely breathable!
This maintains a safer, moisture-free environment for your small pet!
How does Direct-To-Wood UV-Curing Process work?
All our designs are printed directly into the grain of the natural wood.
Step 1:
SAFE: Our UV inks contain zero VOCs and zero solvents, meaning they are completely odorless and 100% safe for a hamster's highly sensitive respiratory system.
UNSAFE: Traditional inks contain Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) that slowly release chemical odors over time.
Step 2:
SAFE: The ink is printed directly onto the natural wood and instantly blasted with a precise wavelength of ultraviolet light. (transforming the liquid into a completely solid)
UNSAFE: The image printed onto a sticker, and the heat sealing the sticker to the hide.
Step 3:
SAFE: UV-cured ink fuses tightly into the wood grain. It cannot be peeled or chewed off in dangerous chunks.
UNSAFE: Traditional painted wood are thicker and can chip off into sharp, toxic flecks when chewed.
How is It SAFE to Chew?
Once ultraviolet light hits the liquid ink during manufacturing, a total chemical transformation happens instantly. The liquid ink components turn into a 100% solid, cured polymer matrix.
This means the ink changes state permanently and becomes completely chemically inert (inactive) and stable.
It Becomes an Inert Plastic:
The final cured print is essentially a microscopic layer of safe, stable plastic that is fused into the wood fibers.
It behaves similarly to the hard plastic materials used in safe hamster wheels & water bottles.
No Loose Chemical Residuals:
Unlike wet paints that dry slowly via evaporation (which can leach chemicals), UV ink polymerizes fully.
Meaning, there are no free-floating chemicals or uncured liquids left behind for the hamster to ingest.
It Breaks Down into Micro-Dust:
If chewed, only a mix of wood with microscopic bits of cured polymer will be removed.
If eaten, these tiny, inert micro-particles safely pass right through their digestive system without reacting or breaking down in stomach acid.
