Hides
Recommended:
- Multi-Chamber Hide (works as a platform for other heavy objects, and mimics their way of living in the wild)
- Ceramic Hide (allows the hamster to regulate their body temperature in hot & cold months)
- Hay Hide (encourages the hamster to bite holes and make new burrow entrances)
- Other Safe Materials: Terracotta, Birch, Cork
- Plastic is best to be avoided, due to the plastic not fully blocking the light when your hamster is trying to sleep.

Sand Bath
- Reptile Sand (without calcium) or Soft Children’s Play Sand (sifted & baked)
- No Chinchilla Dust/Powder, or Cat Litter or Bird Sand
- Place Sand Bath Container on a platform to ensure safe burrowing.
- Sand Bath Container: acrylic, glass, wood or plastic (preferably with a hide in the sand bath)
What Should You Include When Emailing Your Enclosure Photos?
Include the following in your Enclosure Photo Submission:
- The square inches of floorspace the enclosure has (see module one, in the online course, for review if needed)
- The inches of bedding in the enclosure.
- List the 3+ enrichments that you choose to add to your enclosure.
- 3-5 photos from different angles of the enclosure. Include a photo of an adult with the enclosure and their ID (more info below)
- The name of the Food Mix you plan to feed your hamster.
In most cases, we provide advice and suggestions based on the enclosure requirements. We strive to encourage all our adopters to continue bettering their care!
In order to ensure the submitted photos were taken by you, please include one selfie of you OR an adult family member with the enclosure & a picture of that persons Driver’s Licenses or some other from of Identification (this must be the same person who picks up the hamster on the day of adoption).
