It's SPRING TIME, and you know what that means...
BABY HAMSTERS!!! We were able to get through the whole waitlist, but then it repopulated like... two weeks later, but WE LOVE TO SEE IT!
We actually have a LOT of new things going on at the hamstery, where to even BEGIN....
-We had our first In-Person Shopping Event and it went SO WELL, it was so fun to meet everybody, we even hit 6,000 orders while we were there, it was AMAZING!
-Last minute, I decided to go to the Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Florida, to make connection with other small animal pet companies to see if I could make new connections with manufacturers for Happy Hamstery! I am excited to report I am hoping to start working with a small reptile business who imports their cork logs from Portugal to hopefully offer cork logs by the end of 2026! I am also hoping to further build relationships with Care Fresh & Small Pet Select (and many more companies), so we'll see what comes from those relationships moving forward!
-The tariffs have really delayed customs clearance timelines, and have made our shipment times end up being 60-90 days; which is making it tough to replenish natural materials like grapevine wood, and bamboo root, etc! But we are trying our best to place orders 3-5 months in advanced in hopes we can keep those products in stock!
-Exciting updates regarding the SUMMER BOX, we are going to try for the FIRST time ever; offering a customization feature for the SUMMER BOX members! We are going to start with just 1 out of the 7 products as a trial run to see how everyone likes it! So stayed tuned subscription box members, this summer, you'll get to customize one of your items...YAH!

Meet Sugarcube!
Sugarcube is one of our chunkiest hamsters at the hamstery, he is SO FUN to snuggle haha -- he's one of my FAVORITES, if that's allowed...LOL
He has been the father to handful of litters and is always so patient and kind in his interaction with everyone!
He still isn't sure about other people when they try to hold him but I love how he trusts me and will endure all my kisses. :)
Hamster Tip of the Month:
When to go to the vet
We often have people reach out to us asking if they should take their hamster to their vet or if something is treatable at home, so I decided to explain a little bit more when to go to the vet.
But first, a disclaimer: This is not vet advice and you know your hammy best. If you notice a behavior that is beyond the norm for your hammy, you can always call the check to see if they recommend an appointment or not.
Here are all reasons to go to the vet:
-Diarrhea or a wet/dirty tail area
-Not eating or drinking
-Trouble breathing, wheezing, or labored breathing
-A hunched posture or obvious pain
-Sudden lethargy or weakness
-Discharge from the eyes, nose, or ears
-An abnormal walk or limping
-A swollen or bloated abdomen
-Rapid weight loss
-Lumps, bumps, sores, or unusual swelling
Sometimes, people will reach out to us saying that their hamster is in a grey area such as "my hamster is selectively eating" or "my hamster isn't using their wheel as much". This is tricky because hamster's weight and appetite fluctuates with age and as hamsters get older their activity level declines.
My biggest advice for deciding whether or not to take your hamster is to call your vet and ask them! Your exotic vet should be able to tell you if something is abnormal enough to bring your hamster in. (these phone calls are free so there's no hurt in asking your exotic vet office)

Jonathan R.
Jonathan is one of our Core Burrower Ambassadors and has been a Happy Hamstery Customer since January of last year! We recently worked with him on a collaborative brochure to pass around to local vet offices that you can find in his Instagram bio @jonsburrow !
Jonathan has two hamsters, Yrsa and Radagast-- both adorable Syrians! He also has a mini dachshund puppy named Willow!
