Meet the Happy Hamstery Round Table Council

We believe that creating and selling products for small animals comes with a big responsibility.

That's why we created our Round Table Council — a group of experienced animal caregivers from across the world who help us take a closer look at the products available on our website.

Together, they bring a combined 706 years of animal-care experience across a wide variety of species.

Why we created the council

Animal care is constantly evolving.

New research becomes available. Standards improve. Experienced caregivers share what they've learned. Communities have important conversations.

And sometimes, information that was once considered normal is later recognized as outdated.

We never want to operate with the mindset of:

“This is how we've always done it, so it must be right.”

Instead, we want to continue asking questions.

We want to listen.

We want to learn from experienced people with different backgrounds and different areas of expertise.

And when there is an opportunity to improve, we want to take it.

So... what exactly do they do?

Our Round Table Council is made up of animal lovers, experienced owners, rescuers, educators, vets, and other animal-care professionals who help us review products currently available on the Happy Hamstery website.

When we ask the council to review a product, members examine it through the lens of the animals they have experience caring for.

They help us identify questions like:

  • Is this product appropriate for the species listed?
  • Are there potential safety concerns we should take another look at?
  • Is the product being marketed accurately?
  • Are there better ways we can explain proper use?
  • Should the product remain available for certain species but not others?
  • Is there anything we may have missed?

Their feedback gives us additional perspectives and helps us continue improving the products and information we provide!

Different animals have different needs — which means a product that may be appropriate for one species isn't automatically appropriate for another.

Our council members bring experience with a variety of animals, allowing us to seek feedback across multiple species.

How the Reviews Process Works

  • 01 — The Council Member Chooses a Product or Species Collection to Review

Each council member is assigned species based on their experience and qualifications.

Example: A member qualified to review Syrians may not be qualified to review ferrets.

Council members can review any product within their assigned collection(s).

  • 02 — They Share Their Feedback

Council members can flag concerns, suggest improvements, share perspectives, or confirm what they feel is appropriate.

If a product raises a red flag, they submit a form with the relevant details.

  • 03 — We Review the Feedback

Our team considers the information provided and determines whether additional research, changes, updated species recommendations, clearer product information, or other action is needed.

Important Note

The Round Table Council provides valuable feedback and perspectives, but no individual council member makes decisions for Happy Hamstery. Final product decisions are made by our internal team after reviewing the available information.
