They have all they need within their home!
Predators
Supervised does not mean "safe"
Birds of prey, cats, dogs, snakes, and other predators can appear in seconds. By the time you react, it may already be too late.
Even in a supervised pen, things could change in a moment.
Escape Artists
If there's a way out... they'll find it.
Hamsters are incredible diggers and squeezers. Outdoor pens aren't escape-proof for all hamsters.
Its just too risky!
Parasites and Diseases
Similar risks to when you go outside!
Ticks, mites, fleas, intestinal parasites, bacteria, and fungi can all be found outside and make their way to your hamster!
Toxic Plants
Many common lawn weeds, flowers, and landscaping plants are toxic to hamsters—even if they're growing in your own yard.
Also, fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and lawn treatments can remain on plants and soil long after they're applied.
Stress
There is a such thing as too much enrichment. Loud noises, unfamiliar smells, overhead shadows, and open spaces are not always a welcome change and can be too overwhelming.
Instead
You can set up an enrichment pen indoors for some free roam time!
Wall off a safe section and you can add things like paper tubes, hides, a wheel, a water dish, and more!
This is a safe alternative to bringing your hamster outside!
