Hamsters don't take traditional "baths"
I don't just mean that they don' bathe in a tub, they don't bathe with water at all.
They bath in sand. But why...?
First of all
Bathing a hamster in water can remove protective skin oils, cause chilling or stress, and even contribute to respiratory or skin problems.
Dust
You might be wondering why sand baths need to be "dust-free"
Unlike chinchillas that need dust baths, the dust particles can clog hamsters sinuses and cause repiratory issues!
What to get...
There are a lot of great options for your hamster's sand bath:
ReptiSand
Niteangel Sand
Bucatstate Sand
Children’s Play Sand
You can put your hamster in a designated sand bath box or you can DIY one and use a cardboard box!
