How To Keep Your Hamster Stress Free for Loud Sounds

How To Keep Your Hamster Stress Free for Loud Sounds

1. Play background noise in your hamsters room:
While this might sounds silly, background noise can help distract from the much louder noises outside and can make sudden bangs less scary.

2. Close windows and doors:
To reduce noise from the fireworks, close all windows and doors to slightly deafen the noise. This will also prevent any smoke or fumes from the fireworks getting in. You should always move your enclosure away from the window to put as much distance between your hamster and the noise.

3. Add some hides and clutter:
If your hamster is scared by the loud noises, they may be looking for some extra places to hide. Adding some extra hides and clutter can make your hamster feel safer by having more areas to hide in.

4. Add some more bedding:
Kind of similar to closing the door, adding more bedding can soften the sound of the fireworks if your hamster is hiding out in one of their burrows. This will also make them feel extra secure having more places to hide.

5. Keep blinds and curtains closed:
Not just the noise, but the flashing lights from fireworks can also stress out your hamster. Closing the blinds prevents the lights from getting in and can make it a less stressful experience.

6. Add some more food and enrichments:
Kind of like how humans stress eat, it can be comforting for your hamster to have some extra enrichments around to keep them distracted and occupied.

If you follow these steps, you're doing everything you can to reduce the risk of stressing your hamster out.
