Left or Right..?
Hamsters, like humans, can be “right-pawed” or “left-pawed”! Some hamsters strongly favor one paw when eating or digging — scientists call this lateralization.

The Treat Grab Test
1. Offer your hamster a small treat (like a sunflower seed) between your thumb and finger.
2. Watch which paw it reaches with first.
3. Repeat 10–15 times.
4. If one paw is used noticeably more often → that’s their “dominant paw.”
Remember: Keep it fun! If your hamster is showing signs of stress, listen to them and stop!
