#1 "Hamsters are social, they should live in pairs"
Hamsters do not need a companion. And some hamsters do not enjoy human interactions. And that's ok.
Hamsters will often kill each other when housed with another hamster.

#2 "Hamsters are supposed to hibernate"
Say it with me: “NOT. IN. CAPTIVITY.” When hamsters “hibernate” in captivity it’s actually called torpor which is a serious medical condition that could result in DEATH. Seek vet assistance immediately.

#3 "Since they are small, they don't require much room"
Could not be further from the truth. In the wild, burrows can stretch from 3ft to 6.5ft deep into the ground and stretch over 30ft in tunnels. Critter trails and other small enclosures are NOT sufficient.
